Independent Living with Support

Our Extra Care Scheme in Leigh is designed to offer adults with physical and learning difficulties the opportunity to live independently while receiving the support they need, when they need it.

Located in the heart of Leigh, the scheme offers self-contained flats, each providing a safe, comfortable, and private living space. The environment is purpose-built to promote autonomy while ensuring that help is always nearby.

What makes this scheme unique is its balance of independence and support. Tenants manage their own homes, make their own choices, and live life on their own terms, all with the reassurance of 24/7 on-site care and support. Whether it’s help with daily tasks, managing health needs, or simply offering companionship, our dedicated team is always available.

She has played a key role in shaping the high-quality, person-centred services at Spencer House, where her leadership and commitment have made a lasting impact.

Joan’s journey into the care sector was inspired by personal experience, seeing the positive difference that compassionate care made when her own father needed support motivated her to pursue a career in the field.

Her passion for providing exceptional care continues to drive her work every day.

Outside of her professional role, Joan enjoys creative pursuits, particularly sewing and other crafts, which allow her to unwind and express her artistic side.
