Project 49
Our Service
Project 49 provides innovative, person-centred day opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and associated needs. Our approach is grounded in the belief that every individual has the right to lead a fulfilling, inclusive, and independent life. Through a combination of structured pathways, meaningful activities, and strong community connections, we create opportunities that empower people to achieve their goals and take an active role in society.
At the heart of our service are two core pathways: Skills and Employability. These pathways are designed to support individuals in building independence, developing essential life and work skills, and enhancing their overall quality of life.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Inclusion
We place a strong emphasis on healthy lifestyles, offering a range of activities and support that promote physical health, mental wellbeing, and emotional resilience. From cooking and nutrition workshops to physical fitness sessions and mindfulness, we help individuals make positive lifestyle choices and maintain overall wellness.
Community inclusion is central to everything we do. We believe that being connected to the wider community helps foster a sense of belonging, purpose, and pride. Our service users are encouraged and supported to access local facilities, participate in community events, and engage in activities that promote independence and inclusion.
Collaborative and Community-Focused
Project 49 actively encourages partnership working with local organisations, businesses, and voluntary groups. These collaborations enhance our service and provide meaningful opportunities for our participants to engage with the community, develop new skills, and contribute to society.
Our team works closely with families, carers, professionals, and external agencies to ensure each individual receives the support that best meets their needs. Whether through co-delivered projects, supported volunteering roles, or shared community initiatives, we maintain a visible and valued presence in the local area.
Participants at Project 49 are not only supported, they are seen, heard, and celebrated. Through voluntary and community-based projects, they gain confidence, build networks, and develop a strong sense of self-worth and achievement.
What We Provide
Since 2022, Project 49 has been dedicated to supporting individuals through two carefully designed pathways that promote personal growth, independence, and future opportunities. These pathways are tailored to meet individual needs, aspirations, and goals, ensuring everyone has the chance to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Skills Pathway
The Skills Pathway is focused on developing and maintaining a range of essential life skills that encourage greater independence and foster meaningful inclusion in the community. Participants engage in structured activities that enhance their daily living abilities, social confidence, and problem-solving skills. This pathway is ideal for those looking to build self-reliance, form new relationships, and participate more fully in everyday life. Activities may include:
- Cooking and nutrition
- Budgeting and money management
- Personal care and wellbeing
- Communication and teamwork
- Community access and travel training
Our aim is to empower individuals to live more independently and confidently while feeling connected to their communities.
Employability Pathway
The Employability Pathway is designed to equip individuals with the skills and experience necessary to move closer to the world of work. Through practical training, personal development, and real world experiences, we help participants build the confidence and competencies needed to succeed in a variety of employment settings.
This pathway includes:
- Work-readiness training
- CV writing and interview preparation
- Timekeeping and workplace etiquette
- On-site and community-based volunteering opportunities
- Supported work placements where appropriate
We collaborate with local businesses and organisations to provide meaningful experiences that help participants explore career options, gain hands-on experience, and transition into paid employment where possible.
Activity Rota
To enrich both pathways, Project 49 offers a diverse and dynamic weekly activity rota. This includes creative workshops, physical activities, social events, and learning sessions that support skill development and overall wellbeing. Whether it’s arts and crafts, digital literacy, gardening, or fitness classes, our programme is designed to be inclusive, engaging, and fun, helping participants grow in confidence and build lasting friendships.
