Care Home Open Week
During the week of 16th June Brook Meadows took part in Care Home Open week. Our Activities Coordinators Norma and Sue planned a fun filled week of activities for our residents.
On 17th June we were entertained with an afternoon of music with Peter George. The residents enjoyed a good sing a long with some dancing too!! Thank you Peter it was such a wonderful afternoon.
It was time to take a look back on the radio from the 1940's. On the morning on 18th June we sat comfortably with tea and cake to listen to memories from the BBC radio archives of 1940. We listened to clips from Winston Churchill and music from Glenn Miller and Vera Lynn plus many others. Our residents enjoyed it so much they have requested to listen to the BBC 50's and 60's Memory Radio.
World picnic day was also celebrated at Brook Meadows House and in the afternoon of the 18th June we sat outside under the shaded area and enjoyed sandwiches and cake. Our on site chef prepared a variety of tasty delights including freshly made chocolate brownies and muffins. Thank you to our chefs for such a great afternoon of treats.
With the heat soaring over Southend on 19th June and temperatures reaching 30 degrees it was the perfect time to make Ice Cream Sundaes. The flavours on offer were strawberry, chocolate and vanilla, topped with cream and sprinkles and lets not forget the all important chocolate flake. The task now was to make and eat them before they melted. It was safe to say this was achieved and our residents were delighted with how good they looked plus how fabulous they tasted.
Southend Care would like to thank Norma and Sue for an amazing week at Brook Meadows House. We are looking forward to next years Care Home Open Week already.
