Southend Care is seeking an Assistant Chef to working alongside our catering team to deliver high-quality, nutritious meals that make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
- Support in planning, preparing, and serving varied menus that promote residents’ health and wellbeing.
- Ensure all meals meet dietary requirements, including specialist diets.
- Follow food hygiene and safety standards to create a safe, welcoming kitchen environment.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and budgeting to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
- Step up to deputise for the Head Chef when required, including attending meetings.
- Help supervise and develop catering staff, fostering teamwork and high standards.
We understand the importance of a healthy work life balance, the rota includes:
- Early shift: 7am – 3pm
- Late shift 10.30am – 6pm
- Every other weekend off
 About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A warm, personable approach with a genuine passion for supporting residents’ wellbeing.
- City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent in catering.
- Experience working in a busy kitchen, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
- A strong commitment to customer service and quality.
- Experience catering for large numbers (care sector knowledge would be advantageous
- A professional, organised and team focused approach
