Assistant Chef

Brook Meadows House is seeking an Assistant Chef to work on a rota basis to support our newly appointed Head Chef to prepare, cook and serve restaurant quality delicious and nutritious meals for our residents taking into account dietary requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with planning, preparing and serving a varied set of menus that support the delivery of high-quality catering services that cater for individual needs, including special diets.
• Ensure local and legislative procedures are followed so that resident. and service users’ needs are met and are in accordance with food hygiene and safety standards.
• Assist in submitting orders and managing stocks and supplies to ensure that menus can be delivered, and the kitchen works within relevant budgetary levels.
• Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are met and ensure equipment is kept in good working order and used correctly, to maintain a safe environment.
• Deputise in the absence of the Head Chef, including attending meetings.
• Assist in the supervision and development of catering staff.

We are looking for an individual who has:

• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
• City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification
• Experience in a similar role working to deadlines and prioritising workload.
• High level of customer service
• Proven experience in catering for large numbers,
• Experience, or knowledge, of care environment would be advantageous
