Case Study

Moving to safety

Stefan had been living with his brother, but when his brother moved out, his situation became unsafe. Many of the neighbours in the tower block began to target him as a vulnerable adult and Stefan became anxious and withdrawn.

An assessment identified that Stefan needed to move, to rebuild his confidence and skills. Stefan and his family viewed Spencer House on the day of the assessment and he moved in on 14 May 2018.

Once at Spencer House, Stefan’s confidence began to grow and he worked with staff to develop his skills. He started to show a good level of independence and with support from his family, staff helped Stefan with close personal relationships.

The Making it Work service arranged travel training, which helped with ongoing independence and future employment possibilities. Stefan made excellent progress and now has his own property with a small garden which he is very proud of.

“Stefan’s confidence began to grow and he worked with staff to develop his skills.”
